Reedy Creek 8th
Grade Career
Fair 2010
8th grade students begin high school course selections in February, 2011. With so many decisions close at hand, career exploration activities begin in the fall with initial career assessments sponsored by Futures 4 Kids (www.f4k.org). The career fair then presents a next stepping stone to help in their future planning. Students can chat informally with representatives from many different career areas and identify many new career possibilities. North Carolina and the Wake County Public Schools are dedicated to the task of graduating students job and college ready!
The business community and the public sector have always been generous in their support of our students, and this year was no exception. The event started with the donation of dozens of delicious muffins from Mimi's Cafe at Cary Towne Center to help us provide a hospitable climate for our participants. Then, Mr. Jim Taylor, NC Department of Labor, presented Teen Employment information to the students and Lynn Hines from Chick-fil-A followed with the "nuts of bolts" of how a youth gets and keeps a job at one of their restuarants. Of course, the cow made a guest appearance on stage!
Mr. Taylor, Department of Labor, Ms. Hines, Chick-fil-A, and the Cow all had important messages of RCMS students! |
