Graham Alexander, Solar Design and Project Management, Southern Energy
Management will explain his role in the SAS solar field project as well as
green initiatives within the company.
Jerry Williams, SAS Project Manager for Environmental Sustainability
will describe the solar field project at SAS as well as other sustainability
initiatives
that SAS promotes. You’ll be surprised to learn where Dorper sheep
fit into the scheme of things!
CLASSROOMS: 12:30 – 2:15
John Dawson will represent careers at Syngenta,
a world renowned seed research and development firm. He will be talking about
bioscience careers.
Jan Patterson, NC State Biological and Agricultural
Engineering, will focus on her career in stream management-erosion and sediment
control
as
well as water quality.
Donald Smith from the Town of Cary, Department of Public Works,
Pretreatment, will explain his role in the town’s home cooking oil
reclamation project and the project’s links to Triangle BioFuels. He
invites students to become involved in green activities through some of the
town’s initiatives.
Heather Tart, Extension Agent at NCSU for
4H Clubs, will discuss her role in 4H and how students can become involved
in green activities through
4H
initiatives.
Bill Swartley, Forest Hydrologist & Program
Head at NCDFR, DENR, Biological and Agricultural Engineering from NC State,
will discuss the many activities
and careers that help to manage our forest resources and control forest fires.
Heather Morell from the Town of Cary, Department
of Public Works, is a Conservation Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator who
will discuss
her role
in implementing conservation efforts in Cary plus explain how students can
participate.
Aaron Moreno, Probability Risk Analysis for
Progress Energy, will provide a math and engineering focus to green careers.
Deborah Hopson, Interesting Recycling Initiatives – What
Can We Do About Garbage? A Film.
