Mark your calendars, May 18 begins testing season! EOGS and NC Final Exams in Social Studies and Science will start on May 18th. Make-Ups and EOC testing begins on May 26th. 8th Grade Spanish, Geometry and CTE Post Assessments also begin the week of May 26th. Most tests do not end until 12:30.
Proctors are urgently needed. It is a two part process:
1. Please sign-up on the Signup Genius online for a date(s) to help our students.
2. Also make sure you visit on a Monday at any WCPSS facility to become an "official" volunteer when you do the online Volunteer Registry.
SPRING BREAK: THURS. MARCH 26 AND FRIDAY, MARCH 27
There will be no school on Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27. It is the snow-days shortened Spring Break.
SNOW MAKE-UP DAYS: MONDAY - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23 - 25
RCMS will will be in conducting regular classes for all students on Monday, March 23, Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25. The WCPSS Board of Education has designated those days as snow make-up days for traditional schools.
ATTN: 8th Grade Parents - HS REGISTRATION
the end of the day Friday, March 20th, RCMS 8th grade
students will have been given all the materials needed to start the process of
selecting courses for 9th grade. Teacher recommendations were updated to include the corresponding course
codes in an effort to ensure that students and parents are able to select the
correct class for your student’s needs. With the exact course codes provided, selecting the recommended core
classes online via PowerSchools will be a quick and easy process. Click here for a document with the next steps to help your student register.
PARENT HS REGISTRATION INFO SESSION: TUESDAY, MARCH 17
There will be TWO HS Parent Registration Information sessions on Tuesday, March 17 for rising 9th grade parents. The first session will be at 6:00PM and the second session will be at 7:00PM. Mr. Strader, 8th grade counselor will present information on the upcoming HS registration process and Mrs. Guilford, Career Development Coordinator will share information about School to Career opportunities.
CARY HS BAND INFORMATION NIGHT: MONDAY, MARCH 16
The Cary High School Band will be hosting their annual 8th grade band information night on Monday, March 16th at 7pm in the Cary HS band room. Anyone interested in band at Cary HS is welcome and encouraged to attend. Things discussed include: class options at Cary, information about marching band, the commitment involved and how band fits into your overall high school experience. All rising freshmen students (going to Cary HS next year) and parents are encouraged to attend.
SINGLE SUBJECT ACCELERATION: SPRING NOMINATIONS AND TESTING INFO
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course. CREEK MADNESS MARCH 19th
Creek Madness focuses on an anti-bullying campaign
and culminates with a student vs staff basketball game. Details will be available soon, but we need parent volunteers. Please let Cindy Hunt know if you are willing to help.
STUDENT ART ON DISPLAY AT CARY'S ACADEMY ST. LIBRARY
RCMS student art will be on display a the library until March 17th. Drop by and enjoy the talent of RCMS students.
6th GRADE GAME NIGHT Thursday, Feb 12
4:30-6:30pm in the Cafeteria
6th graders and their families are invited to
bring their favorite games (e.g., board games, cards, puzzles) for an
evening of fun, delicious snacks, and good company!
